The 8th edition of Gartner’s Market Guide for Managed Detection and Response again recognises mnemonic as representative vendor. This makes mnemonic the only European vendor that has been listed in all reports since the Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service category was first defined in 2016.

24/7 human-driven security operations

In the 2024 report, Gartner recommends security and risk management leaders use MDR services to gain 24/7 remote and human-driven security operations capabilities when there are not enough existing internal capabilities. Gartner’s analysts also advise security leaders to attain the maximum benefit from MDR services by creating incident response workflows and integrating existing ticket management systems.

MDR provider must-haves

Next to the standard capabilities that MDR providers are expected to have, Gartner provides a few must-have capabilities that decision-makers should be aware of when choosing an MDR provider. This includes 24/7 staff that will flag customer-specific cyber-risk cases, work with customer data daily, and have expertise in threat monitoring, detection, threat intelligence (TI), and remote response. Another must-have is the possibility of immediate mitigative response, investigation, and containment. The report states that organisations that depend on MDR services are highly likely to reject MDR providers that are unable to take mitigative response actions against threats.

“We are proud that we are recognised as one of the representative vendors in the Market Guide once again”, says Erik Alexander Løkken, Head of Security Services at mnemonic.

Løkken continues “For nearly 25 years our approach has emphasised that human-led, technology-supported security operations are crucial to high-quality and reliable MDR services. Our expert team has grown to 375+ security consultants, product specialists, threat researchers, incident responders, and ethical hackers. As the only European vendor mentioned in all eight of Gartner's Market Guides for Managed Detection and Response, this is a testament to our continued ability to evolve with our customers, technology and the threat landscape.”
